This is great to know. I have been looking for a list of places that I should join to beef up my resume, but I haven't found one yet.

Thanks for the article.

If you know someone who is willing and able to help this job hunter, what about asking the two of them if they'd like to do lunch--and then pay for it?

If you want something more extravagant, how about a dream job test drive? You can learn more at www.VocationVacations.com.

I look forward to your list, Anne!

Also, don't hesitate to apply for an advertised job even though it looks like it may be wired. Your application will reach the decision makers in that office who may know about other openings that have not yet been advertised or can be filled from within or through a transfer. It's all about networking!

I've become a veritable expert on applying to Federal jobs--I've been with the government for 8 years now, but have moved a couple of times and have had several interviews through the regular submission process. My advice is to match the words in your essay as closely as possible to what they are asking for--it's fine to elaborate after that--but it's important, given that the people who are screening your application are probably not familiar with your line of work, so you need to be very LITERAL. It's worked for me!

Very perceptive - but remember that knowing people can get you the job, but having substance and knowledge can help you keep the job. Hang in there! Wise people are attracted to what introverts have to offer.

I cant write a resume I am happy with. Paying monster $200 to write it also did not help. I was not fond of that one either. the perfect resume does not exist.

from what I've been reading, finding your next job is all about knowing people in the right places. As you say, networking.

for introverts, that is bad news. But it is reality
